HOW TO WRITE AN APPLICATION FOR SCHOOL ADMISSION?

• Make sure that you follow a proper format and specific patterns.

• Avoid grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.

• Start your application with the Sender's Address (address of the sender).

• Include the Dates after leaving a line.

• Thirdly, write the Receiver's Address in not more than 4 lines.

As discussed earlier application is written in specific patterns and specific rules so, we've to follow the universal format which everyone follows.

1. The Sender's address. 

This is nothing but the address of the sender. In other words the address of the person who drafts the application letter.

And this is the first part of the letter, make sure that the sentence start start with Capital letters.

Note:- The Sender's address should not be more than 3-4 lines and not more than 7 words. 

It should be on the left margin of the sheet.

2. The Date

The date; This is the date when the application was sent. 

OKAY!! Let me clarify it, an application can be written today and sent to the headmaster tomorrow due to any reason.

Accordingly, here the date should be the date when the application was sent not when it was written.

Note:- The date should be just below the sender's address after leaving a line. Sometimes you'll see some people write the date in the top right corner. 

However, writing it inside makes the application letter attractive and also considered the new format which everyone followed.

Common forms of dates are:-

• 7th May 2022
• 7 May 2022
• May 7, 2022
• Friday, 7th May 2022

However, be careful with the date! In American English, they write the month first, but in British English, they write the day first as mentioned below:-

05-04-2022

It is the fourth of May in the United State but in Britain, it is the fifth of April. So, always write the date as mentioned below:-

5th April 2022

3. Receiver's address.

In simple words, it is the address of the reader or you can say the person receiving the letter.

Note:- The Receiver's Address shouldn't be more than five lines and not more than 7 words. 

Since you're not writing essays for the school.

It should be beneath The Date after leaving a line.

Example:-

4. Salutation

The salutation is nothing but a greeting used in the application. In applications' salutations include "Respected sir", and "Respected madam".

Example:-

Respected Sir/Madam.

5. Subject.

The subject is the main theme of the letter which pre-describes the purpose in short.

The subject determined the objective of writing in brief. It helps the recipient to deal successfully with the aim of your letter.

Note:- It should be just below the receiver's address after leaving a line.

It should be clear to the point and not more than 10 words.

Example:-

Subject, request for admission in admission in class 5.

6. Main theme / Letter Body.

The letter body is that part where you're required to describe your issues and problems. 

The body or theme can be divided into three parts, The First Part is the introduction of your issue The Middle Part is the main part where you're required to write you your request and The Last Part is the conclusion which includes a thank note, hopes, and appreciation.

NOTE:- Try to express your interest and your strong point but never discussed your personal problems.

Through this technique, you create an emotional bond with the reader that they can’t ignore.

On the other hand, when you write your own whole personal stories and successes, it’s easier to lose readers because they aren’t personally interested in you.

It comes to my knowledge about your institute teaching and methodology and believe it to be the best option for me to enhance my knowledge and the become the most valuable asset for your school.

I am thankful that you will accept my request for my admission in your school.

7. Complimentary/appreciative Closure.

The objective is to show your respect and appreciation for the person who is considering the request in your application. 

Even though it may seem a bit old-fashioned, using a complimentary close is still considered important when it comes to drafting an application.

Note:- It comes after the main body and just before the Name & Signature. It shouldn't be more than one paragraph.

8. Name & Signature.

Here, it comes to the last part of the application. If the application is written by parents then parents' names and signatures are required. 

However, if the application is written by a student then the name and signature are a must.

Note:- Name and signature should be written just below the Complimentary Closure after leaving a line.

1. Will there be a problem with admission to a school if my birth certificate address is not correct?

There's no problem with admission with an incorrect Birth Certificate because schools don't have anything to do with your Birth Certificate other than enrollment.
